When we issue a correction
A correction is recorded when a published check contains a material factual error, materially incomplete explanation, incorrect source characterization, confidence level that no longer reflects the evidence, or verdict that changes because of stronger evidence.
Minor spelling, formatting, or style changes are not logged unless they affect meaning.
What happens when a claim changes
When a material correction is required, Voyons:
- updates the affected public claim;
- changes the Last reviewed date;
- records what changed and why;
- states whether the correction affected the verdict or confidence level; and
- preserves a public correction entry rather than silently replacing the earlier conclusion.
If a published claim is no longer supportable, it can be moved out of publication while the evidence is reassessed.
New evidence is not always a correction
A claim can also be updated because the underlying situation changed. For example, a law, policy, election result, court decision, or public record may change after the original check. In those cases, Voyons distinguishes a factual correction from a normal evidence or status update.
